What an incredible journey you've been on, and I love this idea of writing about your life through the lens of 'when I woke up from unconsciousness'. I'm particularly in love with the idea that you invited teachers to your own writing retreat. Very clever. Also, the healing strength of spending time in nature, it seems, was very much part of your awakening. xo
Hi Lani, thanks so much for reading and commenting and subscribing. Itβs lovely to meet you. It has been quite the journey so far! Yes, connecting with the natural world has been a huge part of it. ππ³
This is an awesome story and I can feel the positive growth you describe. Sometimes we need to go far from what we know to find what we are supposed to be.
Thank you for reading and commenting, Mariella. Youβre right. I was always trying to be what other people thought I should be. Iβm still working on not doing that!
What a journey, lovely to get to know you Amanda (I think I've seen you before on substack!). It's interesting how often we need to get very low to start realising that mindful and conscious and slow living is the solution. It's like us humans tend to need a few reminders before we get the picture π
What an incredible transformative journey. I feel like I am in the early days of something similar, trying to work out what I want life to be. You are an inspiration!
What a powerful story Amanda! I love how creative you were with inviting teachers you want to learn from on retreats you hosted, and all the other creative ways you've lived your life. Looking forward to reading more of your work at your publication!
Thanks Sarah. Just trying to live as freely as possible and in a way that feeds my soul while also helping others as much as I can. I feel privileged to be able to do what I do. Thanks to the internet for enabling it! π
Appreciating you! And Iβm reminded again of the synchronicities between our separate yet shared journeys. I read daily from the Tao Te Ching tooβtreating myself to the Stephen Mitchell translation (which I hear is among the best) for Christmas. Another Tao scholar I really enjoy is William Martinβhe just released a Daily Tao book that Iβm looking forward to reading and incorporating into my daily practice starting Jan. 1, 2025.
Thanks Kert. The Stephen Mitchell translation was the first one I read. It remains a favourite! Iβve not come across William Martin yet. Iβll seek him out. I recently got one by Marc S Mullinax which is very different to others Iβve read and I really like it.
I've subscribed, Amanda!

Thanks Sophie. Yes weβre not very good at facing up to things until we really have to!

Oh Bonnie, what a lovely thing to hear! Thank you. Good luck with your transformative journey. Youβll find your way π
Sometimes life gives us these journeys or signs or messages. It's great when we notice it and answer its call...
Yes! So true

It is indeed such a creative idea.

Your story is powerful and clear! Iβm so thankful you wrote and shared it and that I took time to read todayβ€οΈ
Hi Cindy, thanks so much for reading. Iβm glad you enjoyed it π
busyness definitely keeps us from awareness. thank you for sharing your story, love to see it <3
Yes it's so easy to get sick into busyness. We all need to make some space in our lives to breathe and just be. :)
Thanks Elizabeth. Hereβs to a lot less busyness! π
