Gossamer @ Beijing / Peking

Two days in China and finally got to the famous Beijing. Or more romantically known as Peking.

Few things I need to get use to here:
– there are a lot, and I mean a lot of people everywhere, from fashionable to questionable.
– people are extremely ‘open’ in their conducts, I’ve met a woman doing ‘business’ with open door at the toilet, men sleeping just about anywhere they can lay on, baby pooping by street while the mum is holding it and the dad watched on happily
– everyone, from old to young, men to girls, are in spitting competition

Few things I like so far:
– the kids are fair with rosy cheeks and are gaily most of the time
– the gossamer white fluffy ‘flakes’ that are wispily floating everywhere (do let me know if you know what is it)
– at the Hutong everyone is eating, eating and eating! Queue can go really long for what they think is good stuff, we find at least one worthy (yes, curiosity got the better of us and so we joined the crowd)

China is not what I imagine it would be and almost what I fear it would be. Nevertheless Beijing seems much more lively and interesting than Tianjin which was pretentious and hollow. Guess I’ll give China more benefit of doubt since I have yet to see and feel more of it.

Where’s the real China prior to the Olympics?

Ha, why didn’t ask me about the gossamer white fluffy β€˜flakes’ ? It is the seeds of the willow. It will disppear soon as the spring is coming to the end.
